Happy Father's Day!

We had a really nice time honoring our dads today. First, we had a yummy breakfast and presents piled on the table for Wayne this morning. Anyone who knows Benjamin knows that he loves fun t-shirts. He gave Wayne this:

We dropped by to see Wayne's parents for a while. Then we went up to see my parents for dinner. The boys made cute cards for their Grandpas.

We love our Dads and Grandpas and appreciate all the great things they do for us!

We also spent some time relaxing this weekend by going to see "Up" in 3-D! We all loved it, although Benjamin got tired of wearing the 3-D glasses. I don't know if I'm such a big fan of 3-D either, but the movie itself was great. Very fun. Maybe a little intense for kids, but I think most could handle it. The boys were thrilled that they got to keep the glasses.

Adoption Stuff

I still can't decide if I should have two different blogs or what. But for now, I'm just mixing my adoption news in with general info about my family. Anyway, last week, just before we left town, we went to our last adoption class. Hurray! LDS Family Services has a series of 5 classes that everyone has to take before they can adopt. Most of the classes deal with the adoption application process, since it is very involved and usually takes people a few months to finish. The last class we went to was about caring for newborns. Most of it was stuff that people with kids already know, like carseat safety and how to swaddle babies. One part I found interesting was a lesson in infant CPR by a guy from the Red Cross.

Now, we wait. And wait. Until who knows when. Tomorrow, it will have been three weeks, which is still not very long. I know some people wait years, but I really don't think we will have to. We have had people looking at our profile, many of which were probably not birth moms, but we can hope! Basically, there is a big online catalogue of approved adoptive families, and the birth moms who are considering adoption read through them until they find one or two they like. The birth moms then have the option of meeting those families to try to choose who they will place their baby with. But of course, nothing official happens until the baby is actually born. So, we try to wait patiently and pray for "our birth mom" each day. Benjamin continues to play with his imaginary little sister, which is adorable to watch. One day, hopefully not too far in the future, he will have a real little sister.

Visiting my Grandpa and Grandma in Idaho

Wayne had a few days off from work, so we made it a long weekend and went to visit my grandparents in Idaho. We loved seeing them! Grandpa told us some interesting stories about when he worked for the Forest Service. We also stopped by to see Aunt Susan and Uncle George in Oregon. This is a picture of us with Grandpa and Grandma, in Susan and George's backyard. They have a HUGE playground that the kids loved playing on, with a zip line, monkey bridge, and really tall swings. We also went to church with Grandpa and Grandma on Sunday, and Grandma made us a delicious chicken dinner afterwards.

We love you, Grandpa and Grandma!

After spending hours in the car, it's great to have a hotel pool to swim in. The boys went swimming every chance they got, but not on Sunday. We stayed at a couple of different hotels (Wayne found some good deals on Hotwire). When we arrived at our hotel in Boise on Sunday night, the boys wanted to check out the pool. We were in the elevator with a lady that we didn't know, but the boys started chatting with her anyway. They told her they were going to check out the pool. She said that they didn't look dressed for swimming. Benjamin said that they couldn't go swimming on Sunday. She asked him why not. Daniel replied, "Oh, because we're Mormons!" At least we know that Daniel won't be too shy to be a great missionary someday.

We stopped to see my sister Kris on the way home, and Daniel and Benjamin had fun seeing their cousins and making their own pizzas. Benjamin likes his pizza very plain, with just a little sauce and cheese, and lots of pepperoni. Daniel got a little too excited and put about a tablespoon each of garlic, Italian seasoning, and green onions on his pizza. Anyone who knows Daniel can picture that happening, I'm sure. We tried to scrape some of it off, but it still ended up too spicy for him to eat it. Of course, other people were willing to share their pizza with him, so it was ok.

This is what happens to little boys who spend all weekend visiting relatives and having a great time. We plopped them straight into their beds when we got home a little after 8:00 p.m., and they slept until about 9:00 this morning, which is crazy since they usually get up around 7:00.
