I'm still in charge of the ward activities at church. It's still not my favorite thing, but at least now I'm starting to feel like I know what I'm doing some of the time. We had a "Vintage Dance" at the end of February. It was reminiscent of high school dances. We encouraged people to dress in fancy and/or retro clothes. My committee was awesome. They totally decked out the gym at our church, including hanging tons of cardboard hearts across the ceiling. We had a nice neighbor who let us borrow some wedding backdrops she had. Stacy (one of the ladies on the committee) is a professional photographer, and she took pictures for everyone. Wayne was the D.J. He had people submit "their song" so that he could dedicate them to each couple at the dance.
Corinne, a dance teacher in my neighborhood, taught us some cha-cha dance steps, and some other people demonstrated a variety of dance moves for us to follow, including line dancing, salsa, and swing. While many people danced during the "slow" songs, the faster songs were less popular, with one notable exception: Everyone got up and did the "Chicken Dance!" For those who came, thanks for joining in the fun. For everyone else, maybe next year!
